Some think we should abolish the penny. All that heavy insignificant change we get in return for a light weight bill that easily fits in our pockets. On the penny lies Abraham Lincoln a distinguished leader who played a momentous role in our history. Putting great people on something that we use almost everyday is a wonderful way to celebrate our history. Abraham Lincoln will have been on the penny for one hundred years in 2009; therefore, I believe we should now honor another person in history that was also a leader of high significance.
Martin Luther King “He led a mass struggle for racial equality that doomed segregation and changed America forever.” In fact, his movement for black equality paved a path for others later in history also fighting for civil rights. Among other things, he won the Nobel peace prize and also received the American Liberties Medallion for his undying love for human rights. These are only two awards among many that King received for his courageous journey to end hate against African Americans.
. As a result, I believe Martin Luther King should be the next great leader on the penny. Not only has he accomplished an incomprehensible amount of things for human rights of our country, but he is someone that our generation can relate to.

I feel that this eassy has its good points. Martin Luther King has done a lot for the American culture also for the african american cultre. i could really see him on the next penny. but on the other hand, my problem to this is that there are also a lot of other great leaders as well, not just Martin Luther King. so even though you have my vote, im pretty sure this would be a tough debate.
Martin Luther King Jr. would make a good nominee for the next individual to go on the penny, and you illustrate this in a way that is short and simple, without writing us a book you started your reasoning clearly, and really put a feel for how one person can do something great, just as one little penny can add up to a lot of weight when you have a pocket full of them. While i like the simplicity, I would've liked to have read more of what you felt on the topic.
This is a very well put together paper. I wouldn't have necessarly choosen the first two sentences that you did however it definatly grabs the readers attention. I also like how you have included quotes in the 2nd paragraph and many facts. It allows your argument to stand strong. I also agree on what you have put in this essay. I as well think MLK jr should follow Abraham Lincoln on the penny. Martin Luther King Jr. has in a sence, finished what Abraham Lincoln started.
In this essay the writer not only makes a great choice but includes some key points that supports his choice. I know there was a time issue but I would have liked to hear more of what would make this choice be better than that of another.
I couldn't agree more with the fact that Dr. king deserves the honor. I do wish you had gone more into detail about the king's fight for equality of all man kind and how he was one of the most profound leaders of American history with out the use or threat of violence. I think that was one of the revrands most valued traits and believe that, that is how he would want to be remembered. Not to mention I think that arguement would standup better to the oposing views, but all and all excelent choise
Another great idea. Martin Luther King jr has earned this honorable position.
King should be the next greater leader honored like this essay. I personally agree with this choice of Martin Luther King Jr. on the face of the penny. I like how you described Abe Lincoln as a "distinguished leader" in companision to Martin Luther King Jr.
Although we may all know of the things MLK did to win him the honor of the Nobel. Perhaps a little more background information as to why you feel he is worthy for that person reading who may not know of his accomplishments leading up to such an honor.
